Research
The ERCIS core research areas vary and are currently comprising Supply Chain Management, Customer Relationship Management, Content Management, software and programming language development, Data Mining and Data Warehousing, IT and copyright law, market and brand research, to name just a few. The research spectrum is completed by application system and organisational design with special focus on process management, reference modeling as well as software evaluation and rollout.
"Integrated research has to be holistic and domain-independent."
Research and implementation are driven by the idea of integration of application systems and organisational design. Various challenges and issues organisations are facing today are connected to this type of research: Design of ERP systems in enterprises, process organisation with use of modern IT systems, or the realization of new application architectures (technically and as regards content). These and other questions are looked into in cooperation with the associated members.
Besides an integration of application systems and organizational design, the integration of different technical systems in a holistic and integrated architecture is an important focus of the work in the ERCIS, e. g., the integration of data warehouse solutions, content management systems or workflow management systems as well as document management systems into an ERP architecture. Conceptual as well as technical aspects are considered.
Research Projects
The research projects contain matters reaching from business administration, information systems, and computer science to information law. The inclusion of business companies and authorities results in a practice-oriented research.
Competence Centers
In addition to the individual research topics, ERCIS bundles and fosters special issues of information systems research within competence centers.
