ERCIS research group wins Transfer Prize of the University of Münster (WWU)
Tue, 06/01/2010
A group of researchers under the supervision of Prof. Becker and Prof. Backhaus has developed a software that helps companies to systematically price value-added services.
In the last years, traditionally product-centric companies began to integrate services into their portfolios to offer innovative and difficult to imitate value propositions. But finding the right price for such services is a difficult task. Many companies neither know their production costs nor their customers’ willingness to pay for a service. The H2-ServPay software supports companies calculating both key figures and, hence, finding an optimal price for a service. The software has already been tested by the machine tool manufacturers Gildemeister AG and BMA AG and other well-known players show interest.
With the Transfer Prize, first awarded in 2002, the University of Münster has been honoring special achievements by university members in the area of practical research transfer and scientific cooperation with partners from non-university fields. The decision on awarding the prize is made by the Rector`s Office on the recommendation of the Innovation Office’s Economic Advisory Board.
