WWU Münster (Quantitative Methods)

Mathematics and Statistics ...
... are neccessary tools for economists and information systems specialists. The QM-Team makes the neccessary skills accessible to students of economic-related programmes. You can find everything - as possible - you need to know about teaching and research in this area on the pages listed below. Methodologically speaking, information systems integrate a blend of devices from various disciplines. Not surprisingly, it borrows from applied mathematics, as well:
- statistical exploration and learning stand at the front end of data processing. These techniques support data base management and CRM, logistics as well as controlling
- design and evaluation of questionnaires and traditional statistics are part of socio-minded approaches to information systems
- probabilistic modelling, e.g. queuing processes and (hidden) Markov chains, simulation, (discrete) optimization and other decision support techniques have become building blocks of various theories and methods
The group's research interests and its teaching activities are characterized by the catch-words included above. Its activities moreover extend to issues that belong to the realm of the theory of science.
