A successful collaboration between members of the Group of Information Systems and Statistics from the University of Münster and colleagues from our newest ERCIS partner, the University of Leiden, recently has won the Best Paper Award at the 14th International Conference on Parallel Problem Solving from Nature (PPSN 2016). The conference was organized by the Edinburgh Napier University and took place from September 17 - 21 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.

The authors (Pascal Kerschke, Hao Wang, Mike Preuss, Christian Grimme, André Deutz, Heike Trautmann and Michael Emmerich) have won the prize for their publication with the title "Towards Analyzing Multimodality of Continuous Multiobjective Landscapes". Their work lays the foundation for the still mainly unexplored field of Exploratory Landscape Analysis of continuous multiobjective optimization problems, by (a) providing a definition of multimodality in the multiobjective setting and (b) introducing a test-bed that allows the generation of multimodal multiobjective problems with known properties.
